About

How we test

Every recipe gets cooked first

Each recipe is cooked in a home kitchen before it is published. We check that every ingredient is easy to find in a regular supermarket and that the quantities match the method.

Step wording is tested while cooking, so instructions stay short enough to follow with a pan on the stove.

Three checkpoints

What we check before publishing

Ingredient availability

Every ingredient must be sold in a standard supermarket or be a common pantry staple. Specialty items are flagged in the method.

Pan timing

Cooking times are checked on a home stove. We note when to lower the heat, when to rest, and what the pan should look like.

Clean step descriptions

Each step names one action. Steps are rewritten until they read clearly with messy hands and a timer running.
